High on the strikeouts, high on the walks.

In addition to the 3 free passes that he issued in 3 innings, he also threw a wild pitch.

2nd-Round Draft Pick Keegan Akin is Pitching Well for Aberdeen

(By Steve Melewski)

I'm pretty optimistic about Akin becoming a contributor. He's shown great consistency from day one without any major holes in his game. He may not have the top-end stuff that pops for scouts. I'd like to see him and Sedlock both start in Frederick to see what we got next year.

I am skeptical that Akin threw only 23 pitches in 3 innings, while striking out 4 batters. That is possible to do, but if you look at the reported pitch counts of all the pitchers in that game, they are all very low. According to the box score, Brooklyn threw only 74 pitches in the game, and Aberdeen threw only 79. In a 5-4 game where there were 14 hits, 4 walks, and 20 strikeouts. I'm not buying it.

Pitches: 23 (19 Strikes, 4 Balls)

I think this is another case of an inaccurate box score. If you believe the box score, Brooklyn threw 74 pitches and Aberdeen threw 79, in a 5-4 game that featured 15 hits, 20 strikeouts and a 4 walks. I do not believe that occurred.

Right, even if Akin struck four guys out on three pitches each. That means he would have recorded his other five outs on a total of 10 pitches. Both parts of that scenario are unlikely. He probably threw 40 or so pitches.
