Funny story. I went to Towson, made the Bleed Orange shirts in my dorm, showed them to friends who were leaders of CAB and various other orgs.

Now they start running "Do you bleed black and gold"

Just saying :)

I know now it is played out, but in 06 when I did this I Bleed Orange was by far the most popular design 2-1 margin.

I was always partial to "True Believer"

Can we please not be a nation? How about a territory? Maybe a state, or a commonwealth? What about an empire or a federation? Or a control, domain, dominion, dynasty, federation, kingdom, realm, reign, rule, sovereignty, territory? Possibly a country, tribe, union, or confederation? How about a loose association of city-states? Or a Trust Territory, like the Northern Marianas Islands.

Boo to Oriole Nation.

The Flock has the obvious tie-in with birds, but I somehow just can't see it ever really catching on. Not sure why.

It might be the way the syllables work. Some words just work better because of how they roll off the tongue.

My theory is that 2 syllables works better than just one. (Like "Elvis" and "Beatles".) I think that's one thing about "X Nation" that works well.

I fully admit that this is just a cockamamie theory. I certainly can't prove it.

However, given that I do have this cockamamie theory, I want a 2-syllable word.

The best choice I can think of at the moment is "Oriole Heaven". Heaven trumps Nation.

Most of those would makes us sound like pilgrims. The Orioles Commonwealth? i quiver with fear.

Yeah...they all suck. Maybe "muckle". "Orioles Muckle"...sounds like an infectious avian disorder.

Do Orioles even travel in flocks? I've never seen a flock of Orioles. Matter of fact I've never seen an actual Oriole.

I wrote O's Nation in the OP because it seems like whenever a team's fans travel well, the media just tacks on "Nation" at the end. Sox Nation. Raider Nation. So on and so on.

I think setting out to name what is going on is a bit corny. It's like when the Ravens won the Super Bowl and everyone was trying to come up with a name for the defense. Names are supposed to happen, not be invented.

Like Flat Breezy. I love that. But I bet no one was thinking hard about a name to come up with to describe Sherrill's brim.

I think the same needs to happen here.

      Was reading Wiggins write up on ESPN. He appears to be more of a home run threat than Koolaid. He had a pick 6 each of the last 2 years.

      Starting point has changed.  Given the fact he has approx 1/7th of his season in the books at 1.139, to OPS just .780 for the season, he'd have to drop off to under .730 the rest of the way.  That sort of drop off wouldn't be acceptable to me. I'd like him to OPS .800 the rest of the way for roughly .850 for the season.  The more they use him in a platoon role, the better I think that number might be.

      I can’t fathom why anyone would want a Tanner Scott return. In 10 innings, he is 0-4 with a 1.78 whip. He was maddening before, and now he’s older. But I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Justin Slaten? He’s been pretty outstanding. Yeah, only 8 innings, but we hired Yohan Ramirez, and he’s been a catastrophe in 10. Yes, I know he’s a rule 5, and the Bosox are in the East. And their pitching is pretty thin, too. But they know they aren’t going anywhere in this division, and they might think getting a good return for a Free Rule 5 guy might be worthwhile.

      This draft unfolded weirdly.  First with the *nix guys getting taken early and then how no defensive players got taken all draft, and then a bunch of teams reaching for OTs.  I'm pretty happy with how the draft unfolded because I think we got a player that I expected to be gone by the teens or early 20s.  I don't know what we're doing with our OL but hopefully we can maybe trade up from 62 to pick someone up.
