Roberts had a head start on development, a father who was a head coach, and an understand of his approach and what would make him successful. Orioles development is just fine despite the rhetoric. It really is the raw materials they get. Give them good stock and they will produce. Praying for a Radhames Liz to be a superstar gets us in this funk. weams
Don't forget. Some of the failures had help getting drafted.
atomic
Tim Beckham and Delmon Young were both #1 overalls. There are no sure things in the baseball draft.

OriolesMagic83
BJ Surhoff was a #1 pick too. #1 picks are much more likely to be steady regulars than stars.
bpilktree
Back to the orginal question the answer is Yes. There is a guy named Bobby Witt Jr. whose dad was Bobby Witt. He is a big time high school prospect that many believe will be the best high school prospect since Harper was drafted. He is a SS and would be about the only benefit of this awful season in being able to draft him.

I know it's crazy early, but is he projected to be the 1:1 guy in the '19 draft?

Well rounded prospect with performance history and bloodlines. He doesn’t have a huge standout tool but he could be 60s across the board if he develops well, which is a star player. He has been more touted then some of the recent number 1 picks out of high school. Last year Royce Lewis was picked number one and he has been more touted then him. Granted he is only a Sophmore in many of the all star leagues last year so we will see if he continues the track. He is listed as 6-1" already so you would figure he would be around 6'3 to 6'4 by his senior year. He is at a top high school for baseball as well playing along side former Texas player Rusty Greer's son.
