In the beginning of the 20th century, it was a frequent occurance for the top starting pitchers to pitch 30+ complete games in a season, but the feat became increasingly rare until it was accomplished only three times in the 1930's. From 1930-1975, the feat was accomplished thirteen times. It has not been accomplished since Catfish Hunter completed 30 games in 1975.

No starting pitcher has completed more than 30 games in a season since Robin Roberts completed 33 in 1953. No AL starting pitcher has completed more than 30 games in a season since Bob Feller completed 36 in 1946. No modern day Oriole has ever completed 30 games in a season.

Through the 70's, it was a frequent occurance for the top starting pitchers to pitch 20+ complete games in a season, but that basically stopped after 1980. In 1980, the AL had three guys complete 20 or more games, lead by Rick Langford's 28. In 1983, Ron Guidry completed 21 games and Jack Morris completed 20 games. In 1986, Fernando Valenzuela completed 20 games. The feat has not been accomplished since.

Through the 90's, it was a frequent occurance for the top starting pitchers to pitch 10+ complete games in a season. Randy Johnson completed 12 games in 1999. No pitcher has completed more than 9 games in the 21st century. No pitcher has completed more than 7 games since 2004.

'Workhorse', Roy Halladay has completed 5 games so far in 2008.
