Arguably the "Allegory of the Cave" and the theory of forms found in Plato's "The Republic" is the foundation of analytics.

It has a lot to do with whether what we think we see is actually the world as it is.  Similarly analystics strives to prove if what we think we see watching baseball is correct or whether the underlying data actually shows a deeper thruth.
