Full NTC until he becomes a 10/5 player.

Not the biggest fan of Buehrle but in today's market, this is a relative steal.

He is pretty similar to Zito but has done it in a tougher pitchers park and signed for A LOT less.

Very good move especially considering they didn't have to commit big dollars past his age 32 season. What is going to end up being a killer for the giants is being stuck paying a fortune in his mid 30s.

Yea, the years are the big thing here.

My guess is the MLBPA isn't very happy with this.

He can actually be traded in the 2nd and I believe the 3rd season of the deal as he won't have 10/5 rights yet. You don't get 10/5 rights until you have 10 complete years in the majors, his first season was partial. However, he does have this:

"His contract calls for $14 million in each of the four years. He has a no-trade provision in the first season. If he is traded during a window in the second or third seasons, the annual salary goes to $15 million that year and a fifth season is added, also at $15 million."
