Is Tom comparable to Rickard?

In that they both are the top available position player if you only scout the stat-line, yes.

I perfer Tom though, he’s overlooked because he’s a really short guy (for a baseball player) who isn’t fast and only recently developed power.

Rickard was overlooked because his swing sucked. (Which to his credit he improved)

Gosh, folks, after tomorrow afternoon, what the hell are we going to talk about until March?

Dan Connolly will probably suggest the O's traded back in the Rule 5 draft for budgetary reasons.

That should be a 6-8 page thread.

Today is a halfway point, of sorts.

73 days ago the Orioles ended their 2019 season in Boston, with the last out recorded by an Oriole pitcher for the season coming on Stevie Wilkerson's incredible catch in RF.

73 days from today they take the field at Atlanta's new spring training ballpark in North Port for the first exhibition game of the new decade.

It is not as if some of us here don't believe that Elias is working with a very limited budget.  I'm just glad they spent all their draft money.

Fair enough but this article on the Cozart trade just seemed to be going out of his way to find an issue that didn't exist.

Nothing suggest Elias valued the prospect or wanted to pursue the trade the Giants made.

Elias strikes me as someone who is very truthful with his comments, maybe even more so than he should. But his comment was not worthy of an article questioning whether he had authority to make a deal, in my opinion.

I'm new here. Tell me if I'm wrong. And I have every confidence that you will.

to name a few subjects

The O’s traded international slot money to pick in the Phillies’ spot last year.   It’s usually cash or slots.

Are you sure?  The way I recall it was the Phillies made the pick and traded the player to the Orioles for the International slots plus the $100,000 Rule 5 fee.  Do I have that wrong?

Is he a friend of yours?

Or a fan of yours? ?

I don’t know him, but especially with 2080baseball not doing a Rule 5 preview this year, his is the only comparable Rule 5 Draft preview in the public domain. He’s been doing it for a lot longer than me and he has sources, so it’s a solid measuring stick for my work on the subject.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
