Remember when I had to lock the last thread because two posters were hurling personal attacks at each other, and then those same two posters came back into this thread and did exactly the same thing,

The complication with the minors compared to the majors is that the minors get a much larger percentage of their revenues from ticket sales.  The majors get a lot of revenues from TV, streaming, radio, etc.  Most minor league teams (including the Atlantic League) have none of that.  I don't think the Blue Crabs have even a single AM radio affiliate. Kind of like baseball circa 1930. So if they're not able to come back with fans there's probably no point.

Even Disney is trying to figure out, do we try and open, up just stay closed for 2020.

I think NASCAR kicks back up this week, with no fans in attendance.

A friend of mine races in the truck series and he told me they will be racing again soon with no fans.  He also said to me that is no big deal cause no one ever goes to the truck races.

Compared to the other two series, they dont pull as many, thats for sure.

If you can't be respectful of each other, put each other on ignore. But take a few days off first. In the meantime, please let's try to steer this thread in a better direction before it too gets locked.

Let me re-emphasize this, if you have such a poor relationship with someone on the board that you must hurl personal insults at each other, then I suggest you put them on the ignore.

We have a strict policy on no politics and no personal insults. If you are incapable of following the rules and the moderators have to keep jumping, then we will have no other choice then to give the poster or posters some time off.

While this subject can skirt along political lines along with all of the shutdowns, I'd rather it focus on the news/rumors coming out then your personal opinions on whether baseball should resume with fans. I think we all have stated those opinions and they are well documented on where people stand.

Let's just hope we get baseball back at some time, sooner than later in my book whether fans attend or not.

      Here was the Wheeler extension from this past spring - he is finishing 2024 under the terms of his original 2020-2024 contract, so these are guarantees Middleton and Dombrowski made blind to whether Wheeler would hit any health bumps in 2024. Wheeler 5.30.1990 is 4 plus years older than Burnes 10.22.1994, but has a ton more October achievement, including 7 shutout innings this afternoon.    30 Swings and Misses!!! 3 years/$126M (2025-27) signed extension with Philadelphia 3/4/24 25:$42M, 26:$42M, 27:$42M

      It wasn’t Cowser and Ortiz for Burnes..it was Cease.  And at that time, they did have to give that to get him, clearly. I never wanted to lose Urias for nothing. And yea, I wanted to trade some of our vets and play the kids…and put more emphasis on the pitching staff. I wanted Hays gone and wanted Mounty gone.   And it was definitely you but whatever.

      I don't remember those conversations.  I pegged them at 90-95 wins in the poll, so there's no way I wouldn't have believed they could win 88 games.  Which of course they didn't, even with the injuries and underperformance. The biggest thing I remember arguing with you about last off-season was that we didn't need to give Ortiz and Cowser up to get Burnes and it would be foolish to give up them both.  I specifically argued that we didn't need to trade Ortiz as we could find a place for him to play, specifically citing the likelihood of injury. I really think you're thinking about somebody else.  I'm also not sure why you think you were one of the voices arguing for "depth" as you were willing to lose Mateo and Urias for basically nothing, and they both contributed to this team and were a bulwark against injury/underperformance.  You were willing to trade Cowser and where would we have been without him? This team's performance this year was well within the boundaries of what I expected, if a bit on the lower end.  The only thing confusing to me about it was what happened to Rutschman. That said, my "confusion" is what is the best path forward.
