A game we didn't have to lose

Granted, I didn't start watching until the 3rd inning but I saw enough to know...

  1. Chris Davis.  Just no.  And letting him lead off the 9th?  Inexcusable when you're down 3 and need baserunners.
  2. Dwight Smith Jr. in the outfield.  Or anywhere, really.  Blue Jays padded their lead on his terrible outfielding skills
  3. Pitching to Randal Grichuk.  Grichuk ate our lunch last year to a tune of a 1.199 OPS, by far the highest OPS he had against any one team last year.  And he's doing it to us again this year.

Look, I'm not saying we would have won if we didn't have Davis, DSJR and didn't pitch to Grichuk, but Davis in the lineup gives us 23 outs to work with, DSJR is terrible in the field and Grichuk drove in 3.  Eliminate those issues, I like our chances better.

Hyde clearly isn’t happy on postgame. Not moody but matter of fact with base running mistakes and situational hitting.

Hard at 3rd, Hyde says Sisco needed to stay which i thought made no sense in game thread.

Said trail runner -Santander- needed to go to 3rd once he sees lead runner go.

Reminds me of a few seasons ago when Mookie Betts was absolutely on the hottest streak of his career when Boston rolled into town, but we just kept pitching to him over and over.  He hit seven or eight homers off us in one three game series.

When guys are this atomically hot and it's obvious to everyone... stop pitching to them.  Seriously, just stop.  Just point to first.

Or Gleyber last year.  Just make someone else beat you.  Especially when you've got a staff full of AAAA types.  Like, I get it if you've got a bulldog out there like Nolan Ryan who thinks he can (and he can) strike everyone out, he's not gonna back down.  But with our guys? Man, you're asking for it.

Betts burned the Orioles for 5 Home Runs in a 4-game series in 2016.

In 20 Plate Appearances, he batted .471 with a SLG% of 1.353.

Believe it or not, the Orioles split that 4-game series with the Red Sox, as the offense scored 25 Runs in the final 2 games.

How much longer must we endure Chris Davis?

From all appearances: until his contract expires.

In September 2022.

Too bad we can't stir up some activism around OPACY -- peaceful protests with masks and distancing observed -- to pressure the front office to get rid of him.

You think the front office made this decision?

October of 2022, if the Orioles make the post-season that year.
