The Mets starter Ariel Jurado is making his Mets debut. He was 7-11 with a 5.81 ERA last year for the Rangers.

And we’re throwing out Valaika and Mullins, Velasquez and Ruiz. The other 4 guys may be fine, but that’s still empty spots in your lineup. I watched Jurado pitch in Texas...he’s going to be blazing against us....

I mean, he was lousy in Texas, which means that the stage is set for him to throw a No-Hitter.

I agree But we have to give Stewart a chance to prove that he’s not a wasted pic. At the moment, I don’t think it’s looking good, but that’s why you got to give him a chance.

Yeah, I agree with you. I’m not feeling great about Stewart obviously. He doesn’t seem to do anything particularly well. But he does deserve a good look so I guess I will retract my comment in that sense. I like to see at least average defense out of every player and Stewart doesn’t seem to hit or defend well. At least Williams could play the field a bit.

Back up CF - Velazquez

Player in trouble - Ruiz.   Herrera may be here because Alberto hurt his knee but if Herrera hits when Alberto is back Ruiz could be pushed to backup defensive 3B.    Bother Alberto and Herrera can play 2B and 3B.  Ruiz better start hitting.

DJ Stewart - I don't know where he gets his at bats.  With 31 games in 31 days they will need to rest Santander and Mountcastle but both are regulars.   That leaves Stewart with a couple of starts a week in the OF corners and PHing duty.   Not many at bats.

People say don't pay attention to SSS.   Mason Williams got 11 at bats in 7 games.  He didn't hit.  He didn't get good jumps in the OF.  And he is DFA'd.  Sometimes a few chances are all that a player gets.

Nailed it as always.

They made my day. I am a  Herrera fan and felt he should have been on the opening day roster. Much better than Velasquez.who can't hit.

You know ..l I tend to agree here. Herrera has hit in all of his stints in the minor. He’s gotten 2 @ 30 game stints early and 100 ABs in 2018 over 57 games. So he obviously wasn’t playing regularly.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.

    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
