Man, am I tired of watching dumb baseball the last couple of years. The new Oriole way seems to be something like "Play your best, but don't sweat the details. We're looking for guys who can hit the ball really far and take advantage of Camden Yards' (and other AL East parks') homer-friendliness. For now, things like overly aggressive baserunning, not adjusting your batting stroke to the situation, taking pitches strategically, and throwing to the right base (and accurately) aren't that important because we're gonna lose most of these games anyway."

None of these guys are nuggets....as Buck used to say.  Hope they are teaching them different in the minors.

Exactly. Baseball used to be my favorite sport but the Orioles have been so horrible for so long, I can barely watch them anymore.

And I HATE Ben McDonald Saying nothing but over the top good things about the players, even when the players are self-destructing in front of him. If you can’t be honest about the team you’re watching, there’s just no point.

Really? Mountcastle, Hays, Mancini and maybe Mullins and Stewart weren't expected, or at least hoped, to be part of a winning team? And Santander didn't move into that class in his brief time in the ML? 

Who's a non-pitching "nugget" that isn't a catcher and has played more than one season of professional baseball?

I've almost posted three or four times that Ben sounds like he's been spending some time listening to old tapes of Mike Bordick.

Yeah, Bordick was Mr. Sunshine.  And when he and Jim Hunter were doing the broadcast, I'd just mute the sound at a certain point.

Really?

We had a .290 winning percentage in 2018.

We had a .333 winning percentage in 2019.

We had a .417 winning percentage in 2020 despite playing an extremely difficult schedule that basically only included one team (Boston) that wasn't in contention for the playoffs with a week left in the season.

Even if we lose today, we will have a .441 winnning percentage in which we have played 9 games vs the first place Red Sox, 6 games vs the Yankees, 6 games vs the first place A's, and 7 games vs the second place Mariners, accounting for 28 out of our 34 games.

Also in that time we've gone from being an old team to being one of the younger teams in MLB.
