So is this buying and selling at the same time, or just ownership cheapness? You can't have any Rich Hill if you want Nelson Cruz.
SteveA
Are Hill and Cruz the two oldest players in MLB? Maybe Tampa didn't want that distinction. I guess they foresee the kid they got from San Diego in the Snell deal to take a bigger role going forward. He had a decent start the other day I think. Second and third oldest with Pujols being the oldest player in MLB. Oldest 1. Pujols • LAA born 1980-01-16 2. Hill • TBR born 1980-03-11 3. Cruz • MIN born 1980-07-01 4. Perez • CLE born 1981-08-15 5. Happ • MIN born 1982-10-19 6. O'Day• NYY born 1982-10-22 7. Santana• KCR born 1982-12-12 8. Romo • OAK born 1983-03-04 9. Cabrera• DET born 1983-04-18 10. Wow, didn't realized O'Day had reached the top 6 among oldest MLBers. So 3 weeks and 1 day ago, there were just 2 40+ year olds in MLB? I'll bet that's an all time low.

SteveA
Padres acquire Pirate 2nd baseman Adam Frazier, a fantastic young player in his prime under control until the end of next year, for 3 prospects: Jack Suwinski, Tucupito Marcano, and Mitchell Miliano. Pirates also send $1.4mm to Padres.

Is that really an area in which they were deficient? It would seem pitching (as always) is where they need improvement.

They went out in the off-season and spent some $$ on Kim Ha-Seong despite having Cronenworth.

OsFanSinceThe80s
I can't see Scherzer getting traded to the Mets unless the Mets give up their whole farm system to close the deal. Now that you mention it maybe the Mets agreeing to such a deal isn't that unlikely.
Just Regular
Mets GM just said a month for Lindor. They are using Villar now. How is Freddy's leg? He might be August Goldilocks if he's good.

SteveA
Phillies acquire veteran LH back of the rotation starting pitcher Tyler Anderson from the Pirates. Anderson, 31, signed a 1 year $2.5mm contract with Pittsburgh as a free agent in February. He's 5-8 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.200 WHIP for PIttsburgh this year, worth 1.3 WAR. Phillies give up 20 yo C Abrahan Gutierrez and 21 yo RHP Christian Hernandez. EDIT: UPDATE: The deal is on hold at the moment, reportedly due to a physical issue for one of the prospects going to Pittsburgh. Per Rosenthal. Also the Nats say they would not be open to trading Scherzer to the Mets.
