2021 Draft Thread

One thought.   While I wanted one of the high school ss, a top college bat SHOULD make the majors quicker.  If Elias sees the talent we have growing up and thinks our window is opening in the next 2 years,  this guy is more likely to be ready to play at the Yard versus one of the high schoolers.

There's a lot of logic there.

Going underslot failed because we passed on some good 1st round talent.  As an insult to that injury, the kid we did pick isn't even playing - not Elias' fault but not something the Orioles would not be dealing with if he had just made an intelligent pick.  Now he did it (underslot) again.  Time will tell but I hate the strategy, as do many others.

But Kjerstad was first round talent.  

Again, you're not complaining about the rest of the draft picks that Elias made last year, correct?

And with any luck and to not start the service clock too soon, we should see him in the Yard in about 2031, if he lasts that long in the minors.

Washington would be foolish to pass on Watson - if they do it because they have a SS.

Aside from the fact the O's had a positional need that he would have fulfilled by now if he could hit at all.

All I can think about the Cowser pick is that Elias thought he would move thru the minors quick.  Maybe potentially be in the majors in 2023 when we hope O's will be competitive. Elias has shown he wants a core group of guys who will have the same peak years.
