Tyler Wells: Starter or Reliever?

Is Wells healthy?  Any update on the shoulder situation?

I'm 100% in the camp of trying Wells as a starter in 2022. He's got the stuff and Wells was drafted by Elias because they thought he had a starter upside. On top of it all, he's a little bit too homer prone for me to be a closer.

With the emphasis on the bullpen in the era we find ourselves in, I'm fine with him being in the bullpen.

We will win 50, but we will also win an additional 25 or more.

But even if we win 85 or more, I agree with you, “who cares about a closer.” It’s a made up position that does nothing but limit the options available to a manager.

For that matter, why care about any position?

Why not try him as a starter? Worst case can't we just put him back in the pen?

The Os don’t seem to trust his health if they make him a starter…also could be that if he fails as a starter and they have to put him back in the pen that they don’t trust his health.

Either way, health seems to be part of this equation.
