We should have kept him if we end up with some of the pitchers we are talking about.

Agree 100%. It just didn't make sense to me that his velocity dropped off so much last year. I think there must have been something wrong health wise last year. I am always leary letting someone with that kind of arm walk away at a still relatively young age. It was frustrating as hell watching him pitch at times, but it is not like we have better options. I fear we may have let him go one year too early.

I can see exactly what everyone is saying, especially since we have no starting pitching to speak of next year (hypothetically), but I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I don't think he is ever going to amount to much. Just an opinion, try not to murder me for it. :)

The Nats love taking on underachieving players with big upside. It's not a bad strategy when they need to bring in as much talent as possible. Now if they could draft better then they could actually have a good farm system to build on.

I still don't see how Tex would want to sign with this team though even if they offered the most.
