You can get the Yankees +400 for the sweep. I’m taking my mortgage money and putting it all on that bet at the new sportsbook lounge at OPACY. It’ll be nice to party all summer while you suckers pay your mortgages.

Lead pipe lock. Borrow from your retirement. Retire early.

That reminds me of the clip of an investment guru telling folks to raise as much money as possible, by any means, to buy Crypto.

BTW, that quote is the most irrational, but hilarious quote probably ever captured during an umpire argument. I had to laugh when the Umpire Bill Haller said back to him during the argument, "Oh you're going to be in the Hall of Fame? Why? For F***ing up World Series!"

Ouch man, very ouch! :D

One day I'm going to do a piece on the 1979 World Series and how Earl's very strange bullpen usage may have actually cost the Orioles that series.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Earl. He was my manager growing up so there's a special place in my heart for him, but yeah, his team's did come up small more than big in the playoffs and World Series upon retrospect.

It makes me laugh every time I hear it/watch it.  And that it happened, IIRC, in like, the first inning is what makes it even funnier.  And Haller gave it right back to him, the whole thing is priceless.

I'd like to read your thoughts on the '79 Series and his bullpen usage, I don't know much about it.

I’m Jim Kramer “Buy, Buy, Buy”. Thank me later. Simple math $1000 at +$400 odds= a lot of lap dances. After this Yankees sweep we can have an OH meet up at The Goddess on me. This sweep is free money

This is a lead pipe lock. Tell your friends. Call Grandma. Buy her that house in Florida. There’s going to be lots of 27.00 ERAs in our “bullpen” after this series.

Let’s just take our 0-3 and move on. Rest Adley.

It's a good offseason project for me. I once went through each boxscore and game summary and was like, "WTF, Earl?"

If there was an Orioles Hangout in 1979, there would have been some mad as hell fans! The usage of Don Stanhouse in particular was criminal, even by 1979 standards.

You suckers can sit there and wish you got on the +400 Yankees sweep bet. Meanwhile, I’ll be exiting the stadium shortly after Keegan (those ain’t my GD runners) Akin comes in, and I’ll be hitting the Goddess then buying tickets to go see the boss. I’ll have money for the Boss tickets because I’m betting the Yankees score over 8.5 runs today. So as soon as this blowout goes final and I get paid out, I’ll be sitting front row listening to “Hungry Heart”.

Just don't let Judge beat you Hyde. Pitch around him when you can. It was maddening last season watching Judge get big hit after big hit against Orioles pitching.

I'm totally in favor of giving the Yankees free baserunners, that's just smrt baseball!

You can make your pitch without caving into Judge and if he draws a walk he draws a walk. He was a one man wrecking crew against the Orioles last season.

And?

How about we come up with a better plan to get him out?

Beats pitching scared and walking him without bothering to make competitive pitches.

Good pitching beats good hitting most nights.

The way we pitched him in the final series we had with them last year is how we always should pitch him.

    • Only ones I’d look to extend now are Gunnar, and maybe Holliday or Basallo. Premium defensive positions and young enough to not worry about going past their primes. Westburg would need to be a team friendly deal as he’s older and I wonder if we’re getting his best years now.
    • I've never played in a beer league software league.  Is it drunk programming?  Sounds fun. Don't a lot of beer leagues limit the amount of Homeruns you can hit? With the way pitching and defense is currently don't all team struggle to score when they don't hit HR?  Seven players hit .300.  It's pretty hard to string together three hits in an inning with what pitching looks like these days.
    • Gunnar is the only one you worry about. I would still sign Holliday as well but I think Gunnar is the bigger fish to fry. I no longer would consider an extension for Adley. I would wait on anyone else.
    • Something that doesn't show up on the stat sheet is something like being able to hit behind the runner to advance him.   The O's have been successful in building an analytics offense.   Focus on hitting homeruns, develop a swing to achieve optimum launch angle and exit velocity to hit the ball over the fence.  Result is they have a team of beer league software players and not baseball players and struggle to score when not hitting homeruns.   Analytically, if you review their offensive rankings for the season, it says, nothing wrong with the offense, at least from a macro review, but we all know that this offense has issues.   Runs - 4th Home runs - 3rd AVG - 7th OBP - 11th SLG - 3rd OPS - 4th  K's - 18th (this was interesting to see considering how much they seem to strikeout) All of the above looks good, nothing to fix. The O's had 6 sacrifice hits for the season, ranking 30th.  Interestingly, Arizona who led the league in runs scored also led the league in sacrifice hits with 34.   The O's do not need to necessarily to focus on small ball, but they do need to be able to add that skillset to their offensive arsenal.
    • Sounds like Buck. Anything to get a slight advantage. It’s something this team sorely misses.
    • Detroit has been so much fun to watch. They have Skubal and literally 11 completely interchangeable pitchers who Hinch uses at any time and in any situation. They all can start games, throw in middle relief, and close. Every Tigers pitcher has to be ready to come in at any time because nobody other than Skubal actually has a defined role, which can certainly help keep them focused.  That guy Holton who started Game 1 in Cleveland closed Game 3 yesterday.  Of course he did! And Hinch seems to have complete faith in everybody, which I guess works since they all seem to have rubber arms and never get tired. It must be so annoying as an opposing manager to try and game plan against them or to be a hitter and have absolutely no idea who you are going to be facing until you actually walk up to the plate.  Not sure how long this "gimmick" will last, but it has been really enjoyable.
    • So if Westburg ends up being a very good but not MVP level player you aren't interesting in extending him at a team friendly rate? I disagree with your strategy. If you can lock up even a young 3 win player at a team friendly rate I say do it.
