I can answer that... NO.

If we sign Looper then we have 3 vets and Andy has repeatedly said he wants the homegrown talent who have been around awhile to be able to prove themselves (AKA Liz and Penn). Unless a very good 4th starter like Wolf is signed, then those final 2 rotation slots NEED to go to young Orioles pitchers, not Baez.

BB, if Looper signs, what happens to the BP if Baez has a great ST. I think he is the one guy that no one is counting on, that can come out of nowhere, and make an impact. Could he possibly start ?

I highly doubt Baez makes the rotation. It sounds like spots 4 and 5 will be one of Hendrickson/Penn (the other in the pen) and the other an open competition in ST between Liz, Pauley and Hennessey (or maybe Patton if he steps up and shows he's healthy).

So does Roch. He's mentioned several times to keep your eye on him. Former 1st round pick in '01. We can bring Matusz up and have 3 former first rounders in the rotation! :D Thanks for the info.

Has anyone noticed that we have a lot of rotation eligible pitchers between Baltimore & Norfolk?

Assuming we sign Looper :

Guthrie

Uehara

Looper

Hendrickson

Penn

Liz

Pauley

Hennessey

Waters

Bass

Baez

Albers

Burres

Bergesen

Hernandez

Berken

That's a some serious depth. Maybe not GOOD depth, but depth.

Besides the veterans and Penn, Pauley is there others out of options??

Guthrie, Uehara, Looper, Hennessey, Penn, and Pauley are all right-handers.

Has any team ever gone with a 5 man RH rotation?

That's got to give a leg up to Waters, Hendrickson, Burres to get a spot in the rotation.

Maybe we'll get Oliver Perez?

I think he'll end up w/ the Mets.

I remember hearing on WFAN that they had a 3/30 deal on the table for him.

He wants 4 years I think, but he'll end up taking that if he has 3/4 of a brain.

True, I think the Mets said they'd go to 4 years. He'd be an interesting guy to go after though.
