Yes, and that is the problem.  The option is pure downside.  You're either getting a rental only or you're saddled with a bad contract on an injured player.  Rodriguez is the guy I want, but I can see that option as being an issue for the Orioles.

I don't see it as a problem... He's a rental. Period. That's how teams will value him. If Detroit is pricing him as anything more than a rental then it means Eduardo Rodriguez is staying in Detroit.

I would not be surprised if they get a low end CFer as well in a deal. Not sure how long they can keep running out Cowser as bad as he's been.

Agree. He's had his pre-deadline audition and it has gone about as poorly as a small sample could go. I'm all for getting Cowser as much time as he needs to adjust, but the team doesn't really have that luxury with the Rays and Jays nipping at their heels and a tired bullpen. They have to prioritize fielding the best possible team, which should include a CF who can defend and hit a little.

That's not a knock on the player Cowser could become. It's just the reality of the present situation.

We’ll be fine with Zimmerman and Irvin making 4-5 starts while Wells refreshes.

The Wall helps out LHP when we’re at home.

Lorenzen is like the Wacha from this last offseason. Does he really even move the needle from what we have?

I'd love to be surprised and see them grab a young, controllable arm.  I think I've said that in this thread earlier.   It seems to me that we'd be a good match for a team like Seattle.

It's a player option.. one that he will almost certainly decline barring a major injury. His value in the trade market is a rental, because that's exactly what he will be.

So he’s a rental….I don’t expect Elias to trade for him

When you say,Zimmerman and Irvin I want to vomit.  Starting pitching is very thing now and what if an injury occurs?  Lorenzen like it or not would be a big upgrade and a playoff starter for the O's.
