Astros rematch in Houston

As we bounce from the Team party to the Player party occasioned by John Means return......in his 2nd game back he gets to open up the series against the AL champions who got uncomfortably close to sweeping the '23 Orioles in their first meeting.

AL Active Roster k-bb rank, 140 ip minimum

(n/a) Means v. (21) Verlander

(27) Gibson v. (9) Brown

(11) Bradish v. (25) Javier

Hunter Brown like some of the young Orioles is in undiscovered territory workload wise....he had been mostly bad recently before an OAK breather that helped him get right.

Verlander and Javier's 2023's have neither of them been up to their expected standards, but they are both still Very Famous pitchers who the pennant chase will reveal whether or not the extra gear is still in there.

None of the Astros Bats have been especially hot lately, as they have scuffled some heading into this series.     SEA and TEX have scuffled more, so HOU still sits in first place in a Western race not as torrid as the Eastern one.

They are Ric Flair, notwithstanding BAL and TB's better records so far this year, but youth and talent are in the long run undefeated against age and accomplishment.     Last year Verlander was still elite in terms of overall results, but his ERA with Houston so far this year is 3.86 and Brown and Javier are fatigue question marks with ERA's above 4.50 for the moment.
