If Kremer is game 3 starter then that is why Gibson should have been brought in right after Grod.  He has playoff experience pitching in relief.  With the way things are he may not pitch at all in the series, which doesn't make sense the way things are laid out.  You worry about game 4 if there is a game 4.

Yes indeed. Would have pulled GRod a couple batters earlier.  But liked Coulombe in the 2nd inning *IF* the plan was to have Coulombe limit damage, then let Gibson or Kremer start the 3rd inning.  Whoever was planned for Game 4 starter.  Clean sheet. New game (albeit down a run or two).  But worry about Game 4 later.  Playoffs are a completely different beast.

This feels a little like the Rays series. The division was on the line. The Rays came to town and took the first game in a close one. In Game 2, they punched us in the mouth. We know how that ended for the Rays. This team has shown great resilience. I hope it can do it again.

Also, Texas has some ALDS history of its own. In 2015, it won the first two games of the ALDS in Toronto. Then dropped the next two games at home before losing the series on the road in Toronto. They say history repeats itself. This seems like a fine time for that to happen again.

No way Baker should have been brought in for the 3rd.  That's a high leverage situation, even down by 3.  Baker should have been on mop up duty if the game got out of hand.  Game 2 in a 5 game series is do or die, this isn't a random game in July.

Game two is quite literally not do or die. Tuesday will be do or die.

Home teams are 3-11 so far in the postseason, so hopefully we'll have road field advantage Tuesday and Wednesday in Arlington.

Just have to take one game at a time.

Baker & the Three Walks--or is it Webb & the Two Bombs?--have acceded to the dishonor previously held these past seven years by Ubaldo & the Three Hits. And Brandon's to Buck's. When does the humiliation end?

Kremer's stopped several losing streaks and I'd rather have Gibson in the fourth game or long relief. Kremer is the least of my worries.

I don’t mind Kremer either at this point. If nothing else he gets a playoff start that’s valuable for the future.

The team is 8-2 in Dean's last 10 starts, Dean himself is 3-1 in those starts so at the very least he has a habit of giving the Orioles a chance to win. Ironically his worst start in that stretch was the 5 runs he gave up to St. Louis, the Orioles won that 11-5. His only loss was a 6 inning 3 ER performance in San Diego where the team lost 5-2.

Dean is as good an option as any.

Problem with that is they’re not going to beat Evoldi. The team choked. It’s ok they’re young, they’ll be back

It's important to note who did or didn't choke--already so clear after just two games!

DID: Grayson, Baker, Webb, Mateo on defense, Mullins batting

DID NOT: Bradish (9 Ks), Hall, Coulombe, Perez, Wells, Mateo batting, Hicks, Henderson, Mountcastle

Mateo was UNSTOPPABLE at the plate yesterday hitting every type of pitch all around the strike zone--his second double just missed being a homer by a few inches. It might even make Hyde wonder whether he should start him against RHP Eovaldi (the history is just two ABs: a K and a single). I doubt he will though since he's such a strict platoon manager. If the O's get into the Rangers' bullpen, there are so many lefties that Mateo might pinchhit or pinch-run with subsequent at-bats.

O'Hearn will get his first start, even though it's important to point out that Eovaldi is actually a consistently reverse-split pitcher: career shows .746 (RHB)/.714 (LHB), but the difference is much more pronounced this season--righty batters have hit 183 basis points better than lefties against him (.762/.579)!

Hyde's rigidity with handedness match-ups might be his downfall on Tuesday. In retrospect, the fact that Adley, Santander, and Hicks are switch-hitters has allowed us to duck a lot of lineup-making problems.

Let's not forget Mateo's two baserunning mistakes that he somehow got away with, not once but twice trying to advance to 3rd on a ball in front of him. That's been the problem with him most of the year, mental lapses in the field and on the bases.  Granted we got our ass kicked yesterday, but if we are going to start winning these games those little things are going to matter.

This team has been resilient all season and if there is one team that can do it, it's this team.  Most of us are not accustomed to Orioles teams being resilient, but I definitely hope this becomes the new norm.

Let's go O's!

This MLB.com article discusses the 10 times a team has come back from 2-0 to win a five game series.

One of the 10 teams to blow a 2-0 lead was the 2015 Texas Rangers, who won games 1 and 2 in Toronto. They lost games 3 and 4 in Texas and lost game 5 in the famous Bautista bat flip game.

Exactly .. this guy was down 2-0 to Rangers too
