DL Hall's future?? Reliever or Starter?

We actually had a few bright spots in the playoffs. Hall's emergence may have been the biggest. I can see the potential as a starter but also incline to "don't fix what ain't broke." Same with Wells. If only our starters could have lasted longer than 1.2 innings the series may have had a much different outcome.

I want him to be the closer going into next season.

Personally, I think you could have a "two-headed" closer with Hall and Wells.   I like those guys in the bullpen.   It doesn't mean that they couldn't pitch in the same game from time to time, either.

If you have a dominant closer like Bautista, it's a no-brainer to have him out there for the 9th.  You'd think there would be some analytics pointing toward a situation where you have a righty/lefty doing it in lieu of him not being available next year.

I'd rather not give up on them as starters.  Starters > relievers.

I would agree it would be better if they could start but I think that ship has definitely sailed for Hall. He has not even pitched 100 innings in a year. As for Wells it's possible he could still become a solid starter but his stuff plays up so much as reliever I think he could really make a bigger contribution there.  It will be interesting to see what they do with him.

Why limit him to closer? If he goes to the pen, he has shown us that he can get 6 or more outs.

A fireman type role where he pitches anywhere in the pen and gives us 80-100 innings would be great. If the rotation experiment is over, that is the role im putting him in.

Yeah I don’t understand the closer talk. Also not opposed to giving him another chance at starting.

I’d definitely keep him in the bullpen. He has shown that he can be an asset there and this team is light on relief without Bautista. Cano just seems like an aberration so I don’t think I’m willing to count on him to be quite as dominant next year.

On that note, I’d keep Wells in the bullpen too. Both Wells and Hall can be 2+ inning type of relievers, which can be really helpful since the starters aren’t going deep into games.
