Especially with that follow up line about him and Mike talking a lot.  How many Boras clients are on the team right now in total?

I only know of Holliday and Henderson, though I’m sure Elias has talked to Boras about the free agents he represents.

I just listened to the Flippin’ Bats interview.  Gunnar did seem sincere when he said he’d be interested in an extension.

Thanks Frobby.  I admit it's possible that was entirely tongue in cheek and a joke and that no they actually haven't reached out to Boras at all whatsoever.

But that isn't how I read it.  I take it as an exaggeration, sure.  But not that they haven't had a single phone call about it.  But people are free to read whatever they want into it I guess.

Mike Elias could have reached out and said “Scott, how much would your client Gunnar be looking for to sign a long term deal?” Boras replies, .”Mike about $500 million over 8 years.”  Thanks Scott I will inform ownership.  Next phone call from Boras to Elias, “Mike any feedback from ownership,”  Ownership is still considering the matter.  Etc.

It’s a good thing certain topics are banned on this forum cause the level of scrutiny, reading between lines, reading tea leaves and things like “what he meant was” or “he clearly meant” would be absolutely insufferable.

I’m glad Gunnar likes playing here and I hope by the time he hits free agency we have a new owner with deep pockets that’s not afraid to spend.

Until then, I’m refusing to play the “what Boras said and what it actually meant” game, enjoying guys like Gunnar while we have them and hoping for the best.

I'm mostly here too.  I was actually really happy / optimistic when I first heard the quote from Boras.  Just started chiming in when people started to analyze it or take Gunnar's quote as proof that we haven't been trying at all to extend.
