I might have to check out Pinstripe Alley before bed tonight. Yankees fans are going to tear apart Boone for using Cortes in this situation and then walking the bases loaded putting the winning run in scoring position.

Most of all how do throw Cortes into that situation he hasn't pitched in over a month and he's not a high leverage relief pitcher.

First base was open. Runners advanced on the foul ball caught in the stands. (I didn't know about this rule.)

The runners had already moved up to 2nd and 3rd before the walk.

Probably the Ohtani double in the eighth, where he reached third because Torres misplayed the throw from RF. Led to the Betts sac fly next batter.

Got it--thanks. I know it's not borne out statistically,  but one thing I enjoy about playing the Yankees is the feeling that on a crucial defensive play there's a decent chance that Gleyber, Soto, or Volpe (or in the future Jasson Domíguez) will blow it.

Freddie Freeman just made me a fan. I love the confidence and the sheer openness and "matter of fact" style of his personality after hitting the game winner.

That might be one of my top non Orioles moments in baseball history.  Yankees blowing it in the 10th and one of good guys in the game doing it.  Freeman has been through a lot as a person in the past with his family and this year with his son for him to be the guy to hit the Grand slam is fitting.

The bad leg in both Gibson and Freeman's cases is poetic.    Nestor Cortes had better not be Dennis Eckersley in the years to come though.

Freddie's mom and dad made him not long after Gibson's heroics.    Like Justin Turner, Freeman still looks kind of young but is at a pretty advanced baseball age.

Curious to see what kind of Carlos Rodon shows up tonight - his year was all over the map.

Japan Series Game 1 - Roberto Osuna got the last out on the winning side, he's been the closer on that league's top team.
