Sometimes I regret being an Oriole fan

There used to be a quote early in the first iteration of The Senators,

"First in war, first in peace, last in the National League."

There probably needs to be something as miserable to sum up how the O's have turned out the last 41 years.

Didn't some band sing a song about low expectations and a lyric was "I'm the team from Baltimore"?

It's hard for any team to go all the way but that much harder for the smaller market teams -- since the beginning of free agency especially.  That's why I'm pulling for the Tigers or Guardians especially to go all the way.  (not the Royals though -- except over the Yankees)

I was fortunate to have been a kid in Maryland during the glory years of 60’s-70’s.

It’s pretty much sucked ever since.   I made a major effort to follow them closely this year thinking we were on the cusp of something.  We’re not.

As others have said, this team was no fun to follow.  They weren’t even mildly entertaining.  And they don’t come through when it counts.  They made it hard to be a fan.

While I will always want to see them win and do well, for me anyway, it’s time to be more of a scoreboard/standings checker and less of a daily in-game follower.   I’m just tired of being let down.

I would have taken this loss harder in the past guess I'm getting older. Also this team has been telegraphing for over a half season how this season would end. I don't want to hear stats on how many runs this team scored it's a lineup that lives and dies by the home run.

The problem is the weather cools in October and the ball doesn't carry as well in summer at OPACY. The pitchers get better in the postseason too.

The Orioles actually got good pitching, but the offense came up small yet again. Elias needs to rethink the types of hitters he has on the Orioles roster and evaluate the effectiveness of having two hitting coaches.

There's even an offensive strategy coach and what exactly does he do? "Hey Adley next time you get up the plate try not to make an out".

It was pretty damning that the games were not sellouts. The Orioles still have a ways to go to earn back more fans.

There were a ton of empty seats today. It kind of set the tone for the game, just had a bad feel from start to finish. I don’t blame any fans who didn’t want to waste money or time on going. I don’t know why I spend the money for misery but I keep doing it…
