BTW, Garza tries to throw the ball through a wall and he torques every pitch as hard as he can. He isn't a huge guy. It wouldn't surprise me if he has a fairly short shelf life. That approach is what makes him less successful in then 2nd half IMO. He is gassed by August. (This same theory somewhat applies to Guthrie too, but not to the same extent, again, IMO :P)

I'll quibble with this one a bit. He's every bit 6'4 and probably 220. I'm not sure how much bigger you need them. And his three-year splits pre- and post- AS break aren't too bad. Faded a bit last year, but was actually better in the 2nd half in 2008. (Arguably.)

Not sure I see this.

Isn't that the truth? Classic, change of scenery, "my talented young guy has to be more uncoachable than your talented young guy" move....

Funny thing is Young has become a solid citizen by most accounts (he lost 30 lbs this offseason, wait until you see him), but he hasn't turned into nearly the player everyone expected.... so far.

I'll take Garza results + asshatedness over Delmon results + Citizenship, I think. ;)

Anybody else see a really slow bat on Carlos Pena right now? He doesn't look good at all to me and I've watched him play 5 times so far this year.

I had him pegged as a mistake hitter last year. I wouldn't sign him this offseason.
