Their infield was back and Markakis grounded to first. They were conceding the run and he inexplicably stopped 3 strides toward the plate.

Ended up not making a difference, but it looked pretty bad.

We're doing Masterson a lotta favors tonight, considering the control he's exhibiting.

We are, but as Cakes noted, Masterson is tough to hit. He's tough to pick up, he's got good velo and movement. And, as much as anything, I think his wildness is aiding him tonight. His stuff moves so much that anything close has players jumping.

That said, still bad at bats.

Big picture, while his ERA is elevated this year, both his FIP and xFIP are fairly good: 3.85 and 3.01. His K/9 is over 10.

He's been fairly unlucky this year with a .410+ BABIP against.
