Do they keep track of teams that have been most and least fortunate in terms of strike/ball calls? Feel like it’s been posted here before but the O’s seem to constantly be on the wrong side of these scorecards. -

I agree with Roy that Mayo's bat would strengthen our starting lineup. But as long as we are winning and competing for the division title, Elias is not going to bring up Mayo, Holiday or any of our budding stars until he gets another year of control. Elias is playing to win for both the present and the long term. -

What happens if you're already to the far right of the talent distribution curve and there is a scarcity of people who can perform at the desired level? Don't you just get into a continuous cycle of firing the worst performing X%, and replacing them with similarly- or lower-performing people? Like, for example, if you wanted everyone on the team to hit .330, and you fired everyone who couldn't hit .330. But there's no pool of readily available .330+ hitters to replace them with. So you end up replacing "under-performing" .300 hitters with other .250, .270, .300 hitters, who'll soon also be fired. I'm not convinced that incentives will do much of anything to improve umpire performance, nor that there are a bunch of umps in the minors (or elsewhere) who're better. -

It's not just Adley, the entire team would rather swing than walk this year. I don't know if the team philosophy has changed, but they are feast or famine right now. They are striking out against pitchers with low K rates at an alarming rate. The plate discipline is pretty much gone for everyone. -

Now if Adley can just get back to close to his former walk rates, he'll be hitting .300/.400 and with a little more power / .500. Last thing I thought I would see was Adley not walking. -

Just curious, where does Westburg fit in as far as everyday/what kind of games starter would be optimal for him, IYO?
