Lincecum's anticipated return to the majors started off well when he allowed four hits, two walks and a run in six inning against the A's. Since then, he faced the A's again, the Astros and the Rays and got hammered in all three starts. He allowed 25 hits, seven walks and 14 runs in 12 innings over those three starts. He will be making his first career start at Camden Yards in this one against an offense that is unforgiving against bad pitching.

The Orioles were handed the tying run in a bizarre balk play and may have ultimately cost the Angels the game who showed in many ways why they are a last place team. With a win, the Orioles can end the first half with back to back series wins and seem to have a good chance to do so.

Lincecum seems to be a mere shell of his former self while Tillman is coming off a strong start against the Dodgers. It is entirely possible that Lincecum just isn't in the groove yet. Getting a look at him here should answer those questions.

Boston won their third game in a row while Toronto finally lost as the Tigers edged them out by one run. Cleveland lost while the other three contenders in the Central won and Texas won while both Houston and Seattle lose. The WC race widened quite a bit, but the three Central teams are separated by only a game in that race either 3 or 3.5 games back of Boston and Toronto who still hold both WC spots. Houston is two back.

Greetings, all,

I have a chance to join the game thread today. I hope it's a victorious thread. We do have the starting pitching advantage, for a change, so I hope it plays out that way.

Yesterday, the hitters could've made it a lot easier on Gallardo and Buck if they'd done a better job with runners in scoring position. They only went one for 10. They struggled in those situations the past week. They do have to learn how to get runners home from third with less than two outs, even when they don't manage to get a hit.

      Was reading Wiggins write up on ESPN. He appears to be more of a home run threat than Koolaid. He had a pick 6 each of the last 2 years.

      Starting point has changed.  Given the fact he has approx 1/7th of his season in the books at 1.139, to OPS just .780 for the season, he'd have to drop off to under .730 the rest of the way.  That sort of drop off wouldn't be acceptable to me. I'd like him to OPS .800 the rest of the way for roughly .850 for the season.  The more they use him in a platoon role, the better I think that number might be.

      I can’t fathom why anyone would want a Tanner Scott return. In 10 innings, he is 0-4 with a 1.78 whip. He was maddening before, and now he’s older. But I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Justin Slaten? He’s been pretty outstanding. Yeah, only 8 innings, but we hired Yohan Ramirez, and he’s been a catastrophe in 10. Yes, I know he’s a rule 5, and the Bosox are in the East. And their pitching is pretty thin, too. But they know they aren’t going anywhere in this division, and they might think getting a good return for a Free Rule 5 guy might be worthwhile.

      This draft unfolded weirdly.  First with the *nix guys getting taken early and then how no defensive players got taken all draft, and then a bunch of teams reaching for OTs.  I'm pretty happy with how the draft unfolded because I think we got a player that I expected to be gone by the teens or early 20s.  I don't know what we're doing with our OL but hopefully we can maybe trade up from 62 to pick someone up.
