Two things I remember best were already mentioned in this thread:

1) His 2 HR in the Wieters debut game I attended. His first was a laser and the second a gigantic moon shot. Against the Tigers, of course (my avatar is of Luke as drawn by a Tiger fan).

2) His hamstring injury that occurred during a home run trot, of all things.

He was clearly the best offensive player on the team in 2009 and 2010.

Also loved his huevos for saying what he believed, even on the taboo topics of politics and religion.

Good luck, Luke!

I'm gonna miss saying LUUUUKKKKKEEEEE at the Yard. He'd always give a fan a tip of the hat in left field. We'd always scream, TIP OF THE HAT, LUKE! I loved the Star Wars thing they did with him too.

I remember him signing my ticket before the game and I said, "How many HR's you hitting today? 1 or 2?" He said, "Actually, I'm not in the lineup today." I said, "You'll pinch hit for one, don't worry." He laughed. Later that night, he tied the ball game with a pinch hit HR.

When he was on his game, he looked like he was wielding a sledgehammer at the plate. I'm not sure anyone in the league can drop the barrel of the bat onto a low fastball quicker than Luke Scott.

I think given his injury and the state of the roster (with lots of DH types) it made sense to let Luke go, but I will always appreciate what he brought to the O's, including his defense (which, IMO, other than 2011 when he had a wet noodle for an arm, was underrated).

He may have a big mouth, but he also has a BIG HEART! He gave it his all and was very exciting to watch during his hot streaks. When he was on he was one of the best hitters in the AL for those stretches. His hard work and determination made him a fan favorite, whether or not you agreed with his views.

Best of luck in Tampa, Luke. This signing makes perfect sense. You are still bound to receive a barrage of Luuuuuuuke upon your return to the Yard.
