There could be worse things, but I don't like Reynolds' contract and I don't like the idea of him playing defense behind our staff.

I have been saying all along that I thought Reynolds at 3B and Davis at 1B was a better combo than the other way around. However, I do think it is incumbent upon Reynolds to show he can do better defensively than he did in 2011, and if he cannot, eventually we are going to have to look elsewhere and stick Reynolds at 1B/DH.

I don't have an issue with Mark getting a shot at third again but I don't think his weight was an issue with his defense. I thought it was more mental then a lack of range.

I actually prefer this. I think first is the position with which Davis is most familiar and most competent, and third base is the position Reynolds has played the most. No sense in weakening two positions. I also think that, should Reynolds fail at third base, it will be a lot easier to move some one like Antonelli or Flaherty to third and move Reynolds to DH.

Why such the enthusiasm for moving him back to third?

You'd think he should get more ABs than Davis with an Antonelli/andino combo taking those ABs. But doesn't this make that a little harder. Unless they don't mind moving Reynold's back and forth, which I don't think is the best idea.
