Pirates are an ideal opponent for Hunter, especially now he has a lead to work with. He pounds the strike zone, and Pittsburgh are not a great hitting team, so they may get some pitches to hit, but Pittsburgh's hitters just aren't very good in general and we're seeing a lot of quick outs due to him getting ahead in the count because he's a strike zone pounder.

At least that's my British assessment of things!

Just aren't very good in general is an understatement, they're historically bad. Still doesn't explain Tommy's velocity, though.
