Wow. You really hate the guy don't you.

We are all frustrated by BRob recent injury history, but there are a select few on here who are angry and forget exactly WHO Brian is. This is the same guy who gives of his time and money to help kids around Baltimore. Brian's Bash downtown is a huge success every year. Brian Roberts the man is a good dude, and the people throwing venom at him need to realize he's a human being who would assuredly rather be in that dugout and on the field than rehabbing another injury. His hot wife would be with him whether he's in Sarasota, Norfolk, or Baltimore!

Your 'stealing" statement was both uncalled for and repugnant. Do you honestly believe that Roberts purposely herniated a disc in his back, purposely concussed himself, and purposely tore a tendon in his knee, just so he could collect on a contract without having to play? Injuries are part of the game and teams know this when they gamble on long-term contracts with players.

I didn't state that he purposely injured himself. I don't doubt his desire and hard work trying to get back on the field. The fact is he has not provided any value for a 4 year 40 million dollar contract.

Now clearly most believe that is just fine to say that the system in place allows this and Brian is doing nothing wrong accepting the money for a contract that was fairly negotiated and signed by both parties. I get that.

On the other hand I'd like to think that there are people that hold themselves to a higher standard and say... jeez I can't fulfill this contract, maybe I don't deserve the money..... yeah I know a pipe dream

Of course there was a Japanese SS that the mariners signed a couple years ago for several million. After a couple of months he learned he couldn't hack it in the majors and left the money on the table.

What difference does that make?

He has no incentive to get better if he is lounging about at his home in Sarasota. Put him on a bus and make him travel with a minor league team. Maybe then he will put serious effort into rehabing or just retire.

No I don't hate him at all. I just think the club is wasting their time. They should have let him go last year. It is obvious Brian was never going to contribute to the team anymore. It is best to cut ties with him. He was good when he was jacked up on steroids. Unfortunatley they test for roids in the big leagues now. Move on. How hard is that to do? Roberts still gets his money and the distraction is gone. Maybe Flaherty could concentrate on hitting more if he didn't have to worry about BRob coming back and taking his job.

This is patently absurd, as are all of your posts in this thread.

Really? When he was tearing it up in ST, when he went 5 for 12 the first 3 games this year? You KNEW he was never gonna contribute to this team? Give me a break. If the dude is healthy(which he's not at the moment) he can play.

Seriously, Roberts seems like a nice guy and generous to the community and all, and once was a fine player, but now he would probably get hurt just walking to the on deck circle. He is one injury after another just waiting to happen. I thought David Segui took the cake for injury proneness but he has nothing on Roberts. I think he gets one more shot to return after this hamstring injury and if he gets hurt again, goodbye.

Considering his average rate of recovery the last few years, one more injury and he will be on the DL for the rest of the season.

It is May 8th. You give Ryan until the end of May to start hitting better. As you do Reimold. Ryan's defense justifies him being in the lineup against right handers right now. If the Orioles were slumping as a team then the pressure would be greater to replace him. I still have a feeling he can hit close to 250 with 15 HR's. I would take that in a minute.
