Teagarden doesn't play enough to be a problem. The problems come when regular starters who have the power and averages don't hit for jack in a series.

I meant a problem today. But overall, I agree. Teagarden isn't a problem. A backup catcher should be a good defender, have a decent throwing arm and be able to work well with the pitchers. As far as I can tell, that's what Teagarden is.

Im not saying this is on Teagarden. But when you have a guy like Wieters that rarely misses games, I'd prefer a more offensive backup. I would have been all over Kelly Shoppach when he was released.

I think just the opposite. They said on the broadcast Matt leads all catchers in innings. Teaman needs MORE innings to keep him fresher and Matt rested. Tea ain't much of a hitter but he needs to play to stay sharp.
