Trade Ubaldo please

What about trading Jimenez for Nick Swisher? He is owed $44 million over the next 3 years with a vesting option of $14 million with 550 PA's. He likewise had a down year last year with a negative WAR and OPSing .608, but has a career .353 OBP, is versatile defensively, and 2 years ago slashed .246/.341/.423/.764. Could be a decent trade-off to move Jimenez and address an offseason need.

Someone would have to do a lot of 'splainin about why and how Swisher hit like Jonathan Scoop last year, but as a 30-something first baseman. Unless there's some way to rescue his offense he'll be far worse than Ubaldo. At least with Ubaldo you can try various ways to correct his mechanics, or just ditch everything but one or two pitches and Kevin Gregg him. Swisher would be a straight-up release/eat tons of salary candidate at his 2014 level, and there's nowhere on the diamond to demote him.

Far cry from a few years ago when they supposedly had a bunch of studs coming up.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.... Carlos Gonzalez for Jimenez + Matusz + Urrutia

You think he would fit into our culture? Or could stay healthy?

I don't know, but even with that quoted line he has a .750 road OPS. I'd expect him to do at least that well in Baltimore. If the Ubaldo deal came out relatively salary-neutral I might be up for it.

Agree with this. Unless Dan has plans for the extra dollars he'll save, I'd rather take my chances on Ubaldo bouncing back this season.
Hey, in another thread, we were talking about 'our players'. Ubaldo will certainly be a reclamation project, but, hey, he's our own reclamation project.:thumbsup1:

Someone would have to do a lot of 'splainin about why and how Swisher hit like Jonathan Scoop last year, but as a 30-something first baseman. Unless there's some way to rescue his offense he'll be far worse than Ubaldo. At least with Ubaldo you can try various ways to correct his mechanics, or just ditch everything but one or two pitches and Kevin Gregg him. Swisher would be a straight-up release/eat tons of salary candidate at his 2014 level, and there's nowhere on the diamond to demote him.
I also would like to know why the Os need another 1st baseman, especially a big contract type whose OPS went down from.763 to .608 during the past 2 seasons? And don't we already have Pearce and Davis on 1st base? So where would Swisher go?

What about Jimenez? No one would like to see Ubaldo go elsewhere?

Tillman

Chen

Norris

Gonzalez

Gausman

Jimenez's contract is too expensive for a bullpen arm, than trade him and use that payroll for another bat. We have also planty of pitching prospects waiting for a call.

Hey DD, just please do not trade Miguelito. He's a undervalued gem and we need him.
