In fact I always refer to it as the Jimmy Key effect!

If a player gets married and immediately tanks his career it will be known as the Jimmy Key effect.

In 1997 Key was married at the All Star break. Before the break he was 12-2, 2.55. After the break he went 4-6, 4.50. Key actually asked to be left off the All Star roster because of the wedding.

Although unnoticed at the time (at least by me) his K rate, K/BB ratio both got better the 2nd half, with his BABIP and HR rate going up. He probably didn't really pitch that much worse the 2nd half... but he was done the next year.
