Huge overpay by MIA and just stupid in general. He's on the best roll in A ball since Dylan Bundy. Paddack is riding 15 1/3IP of hit less ball during which he's walked 1 and struck out 28. You do not give that up for Fernando Rodney.

And he's age appropriate (20).

Pitching prospects are lottery tickets, but the Padres got a guy with a 48/2 K/BB ratio for Fernando Rodney.

15+ innings of no hit ball, what was the Marlins, thinking?

Paddack, 20, is a Class A prospect with a 2-0 record and a 0.95 ERA pitching for Single-A Greensboro. The right-handed pitcher has worked at least five innings without a hit in his last three starts.

o

4 years, approximately $75 Million.

Club option for a potential 5th season.

The largest contract ever in Padres history (Jake Peavy's 3-year, $52 Million contract signed in between the 2007 and 2008 seasons was the previous high.)

Almost 7 months later (and a James Shields trade later), the Padres are 55-78 overall.
