We always walked a razors edge. We seemed to always outperform our metrics, and got a ton of production from players that people didn't expect to get that level of production from. None of that happened this season, but it doesn't surprise me really. Maybe a fall to this extent, but I still thought we needed a lot of luck coming into the year. That doesn't mean anything! The higher payroll was due in large part to players getting raises through arbitration etc. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Orioles bringing in the players necessary to fill holes and make the team better.

I was scheduled to go to Monday's game. But I'm leaving for a trip to Michigan to visit family. So I decided not to go so I could continue to get ready for my trip.

We minus well get a top 10 draft pick. One it's a good chance to grab a good player. Two, it's protected if we wanted to sign someone that has a comp pick tied to them.
