I like Machado at leadoff because he sees more fastballs there. Pitchers don't want to walk him and have Jones and Davis with men on.

Machado has our best OBP. So he's on for the boppers. He opens up the hole when on for pull hitters.

That would be a tough thing to prove. You'd probably have to go look at individual game data. Instinctively, you get more fastballs with a base stealer on 1B, but that's about the only noticeable pattern to me.
