Possible Solutions to the Wieters problem

He cannot be traded until June. Anyone know if the following would be possible:

1. Negotiate a long term extension at a lower annual value. Something like 3/$30M or 4/$35. Wieters might still have an incentive to accept guaranteed dollars and might make out better than he would have with draft pick compensation attached.

2. Negotiate a buyout. If we give him $3M straight up, we would still save $13M. He would get to go on the market without the comp pick attached. With the $3M in his pocket, he could end up $10M ahead of where he would have in free agency with the comp pick attached.

Keep him and let him play 1B' date=' C and DH[/quote']

That's what I'm saying. This isn't that bad. I'm actually kind of relieved that he stayed. I'm just glad we got somebody. At least we're not losing everyone. Right now we have some serious holes in the lineup. This helps. Which if you're an Oriole fan, you have to take in the offseason. As of now...

DH: Clevenger

Paredes is in there somewhere. Bring back Pearce. Make a run at a guy like Aoki as a stop gap/platoon player for a year.
