Here's the current team salary basis for those who want to play GM.

I'm dealing only with the "active" roster; but the O's will have pay obligations for players on the 40 man roster.

I'll try to keep it up to date through opening day (all help appreciated).

To be on this list, the player must:

Be on the 40 man roster

Be under contract or without remaining options

Have had MLB playing time in 2015

I couldn't decide between Chaz Roe and Steve Johnson, so I left them both on this projection:

26 players; 8 in the bullpen and no official first baseman

Salaries are rounded to the nearest $100k.

Projections for those under contract are from the Baseball Prospectus Compensation Website.

Arbitration projections are from the MLB Trade Rumors Website.

The minimum salary was $507,500 in 2015. There will be an inflation adjustment for 2016; expect around $515,000.

Their pre-arbitration rates don't apply to the O's. They have the 10 players getting 7.93m. The O's pay between 500k to 540k for each player. Therefore for 10 players between 5m and 5.4m.

He has hedge room because he doesn't know where the market will lead, but I take I to mean he can spend in the neighborhood of15 M AAV on a SP and 20 M AAV on CD, with something left over to spend on an OF and a RP.

Yes if you signed CD to a back loaded/deferred money type contract you might have an AAV combined with the SP of around 30 M, for the next year or two.
