TonySoprano
There's a lot of talk about him,but it's buried in several threads. Cruz did it to build value after the PED suspension, Upton's value is already established....For a Gordon like deal I would give up the pick in a second
Can_of_corn
Like I just said in one of the other threads, even with a weak FA class next season I don't see Davis or Upton doing appreciably better. They are still going to have a QO and they will be a year older.

Aristotelian
1 year deal would be fantastic. I have no idea why he would do it. It's not like he had a terrible year.

It isn't at all comparable with the Cruz signing. First, we signed Cruz for $8 million, and that isn't at all likely with Upton. Second, the Orioles had signed Ubaldo five days earlier, so signing Cruz didn't cost our top draft pick. Upton will, and it is the #14 overall pick. Apples and oranges, IMO. srock
I'd also be surprised if he took a 1 year deal. The odd market this year may mean he gets a less huge deal then in other years, but its still going to be a huge deal. Silly to turn down a huge deal and risk no deal at all. He will may want an opt-out...
Number5
As I just posted in the other thread, 1-year doesn't make sense for Upton, as his situation isn't really comparable to the Cruz situation in 2014. We had just signed Ubaldo, so Cruz didn't cost us our top pick. We signed Cruz for $8 million - a figure that is simply not going to get us Upton. No comparison. Go after Upton, yes, but one year makes no sense, IMO.
LayzieDES
1 year deal would be fantastic. I have no idea why he would do it. It's not like he had a terrible year. I wouldn't be happy with losing a first round pick again for his one year deal.
bpilktree
I can't see anyone giving him a one year deal unless they already gave up a pick or they really think he is the piece to win the title for them like the Cardianls. One year for the O's is zero chance.
