I know next season is a weaker class but I am still doubtful that Davis or Upton could do appreciably better next season.

There's a lot of talk about him,but it's buried in several threads. Let's kick start this here

Makes no sense for upton to take a 1 year deal. Cruz did it to build value after the PED suspension, Upton's value is already established....For a Gordon like deal I would give up the pick in a second

I don't think there's a chance he comes on a 1 year deal. Cruz had to rebuild his value from his PED suspension

I like Upton as a target, but I don't see a 1-year deal as making sense. It isn't at all comparable with the Cruz signing. First, we signed Cruz for $8 million, and that isn't at all likely with Upton. Second, the Orioles had signed Ubaldo five days earlier, so signing Cruz didn't cost our top draft pick. Upton will, and it is the #14 overall pick. Apples and oranges, IMO.

I'd also be surprised if he took a 1 year deal. The odd market this year may mean he gets a less huge deal then in other years, but its still going to be a huge deal.

Silly to turn down a huge deal and risk no deal at all.

He will may want an opt-out...

As I just posted in the other thread, 1-year doesn't make sense for Upton, as his situation isn't really comparable to the Cruz situation in 2014. We had just signed Ubaldo, so Cruz didn't cost us our top pick. We signed Cruz for $8 million - a figure that is simply not going to get us Upton. No comparison. Go after Upton, yes, but one year makes no sense, IMO.
