Gonzalez had a great outing fall apart in the 7th inning tonight. Through 6.1, he had a 3-hit shutout going and had thrown only 55 pitches. Three batters later, he'd allowed a 3-run homer, then he hit the next guy and was yanked.

Minor league pitcher of the year for us?

Who else would even be under consideration? He's gotta be a top ten prospect at this point considering age, uptick in stuff, and the fact that he is a lefty.

I suppose Matt Grimes could be considered if he finishes strong at Bowie. He's really not impressive as a prospect though considering his age and lack of swing and miss stuff.

Looking at his season so far, Gonzalez has failed to go five innings only twice in 23 starts. He has allowed more than 4 runs only twice, and more than 3 runs only 5 times. That's a very consistent pitcher. He's on pace to throw 150+ innings, pretty rare for a pitcher at Delmarva (it hasn't been done since 2008, though Cristian Alvarado also might hit the 150 inning mark this year).

What's his stuff like at this point? Is he turning into a legit prospect or still has fringe stuff?

From mlbpipeline

"While he's not overpowering, Gonzalez has seen an uptick in his fastball velocity since Spring Training and is now bumping 93-94 mph while sitting comfortably in the low 90s. The 6-foot-3 left-hander creates a good downhill angle to the plate that gives his heater late life and makes him difficult to lift. His secondary offerings lag behind his fastball at the moment, though he does have good feel for a changeup and gets good depth to his curveball."

That sounds promising. He should certainly be appearing in top 10 lists, then, no? But it doesn't seem he's in many of those that I've seen here by those who follow/report on the minors.
