I think he's fortunate our offense is in a terrible slump. He left up some fat change ups. Had it been he pitching against the Soxs for us, he would have gotten clobbered.

This is more than a little depressing, and more than likely true.

Out-dueled Gausman and Bundy, who were ranked ahead of him in our organization. He got a few breaks but did a nice job mixing pitches and location.

Gausman rushed and handled terribly

Bundy's cutter taken away from him

ERod goes over to the Red Sox and dominates the minors and then pitches well for the Red Sox his rookie year

...all the while Arrieta is an absolute stud w/ the Cubs.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, there is a significant issue with the Orioles starting pitching development. This is no longer a relic of times past.

Not necessarily (depressing.)

While the offense only scored 2 runs tonight, it easily could have been more if Young had not robbed Machado of a home run (or at least an RBI-triple), Davis' shot in the 8th inning had had a more definitive view in regard to it being fair or foul, plus several other excellent defensive plays by the Red Sox.

Short-term, yes ...... it is depressing to see the futility of the Orioles' offense as of late.

But long-term, it's encouraging to me to see Rodriguez get hit hard, because not only does he no longer pitch for the Orioles' organization, he pitches for the Red Sox.

Rodriguez pitched well, but was fortunate to be facing a slumping team right now. He threw a lot of meatballs tonight that didn't get hit.

That being said, it was his first start of the season, and he will likely look better the next time we see him.

What about Tillman? We get no credit for him.

He was a finished product after that full season and 2 months of Rookie ball with Seattle? All while having a 5 ERA.

I know it's fun to cry after a few losses but our staff is completely homegrown except for Ubaldo, Brach and O'day. Brach didn't become dominant until he came over via trade. Guess we're waiting for Devin Jones to come back and bite us.
