Miami also got Rea (who is now on the DL) - however, this point is well taken. :thumbsup1:

The Mariners are the best thing that happened to the Orioles (Tillman, Jones, Trumbo, and now Miley). lol

Yeah, we are the Mariners' daddy when it comes to trading.

My only complaint with this trade is that we didn't try Matusz back in the rotation these last 3 years when we've kept running expensive awful vets out there. Me may not have had to resort to taking on salary like this for a mediocre lefty starter if we'd let Matusz become that for us. Oh well ...

The same Matusz that the Cubs just released, after he was shelled?

We basically got a guy that will give us Wei yen Chen level production for 1.3 yrs and 11 million. With the option of making it 2.3/23 million.

I liked what I saw with Miranda. But he's already 27, Miley is 29. Miley has pitched 190+ IP every year since his rookie year. Miranda pitched 2 innings on a team that needed LH pitching all year. I think we won this big time.

If Miley is as good for us as Chen was the last two season it's a big win for the O's. However, over the last two seasons his era is 1 to 1.5 higher than Chen's.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Wade Miley can be an above-average starter, and in July, he proved how. <a href="https://t.co/m77A6oIHll">https://t.co/m77A6oIHll</a></p>— Camden Chat (@CamdenChat) <a href="

"Wade Miley doesn?t ooze excitement or flash, and at this point he is what he is: a mid-velo lefty who relies on changing speeds and big breaking stuff in order to get outs. Essentially, he?s more or less already what the Orioles have, but from the left side. He isn?t a big strikeout guy (17.5%) who doesn?t walk a lot batters either (7.1%), and despite being around the plate, he works with an abundance average stuff. As Fangraph?s Jeff Sullivan so affably wrote, Miley soaks up innings, but there isn?t anything extraordinary about it. Evidenced by his 122 ERA-, Miley?s had a tough go of it in 2016, but as of late, he?s shown the Orioles a means of pivoting his struggles, somewhat.

Prior to July, Miley had amassed a 5.76 ERA, the result of an opponent .282/.340/.475 slash. As comes with the territory, Miley?s primary struggles resulted from extensive right-handed damage. Overall, the 18 home runs Miley?s given up on the year, 15 have been hit by those from the conventional side of the plate. Miley, reliant upon disguising balls as strikes, left a lot of easy breaking balls pitches and changeups in the strike zone to righties."
