Mancini, Joseph, Rickard

wildcard

Rickard has an option this year so I say we might as well use it.  He isn't as experienced as it seems -- only 100 PA in AAA and just that barely half season at the big leagues.  Despite our offensive struggles lately, we don't desperately need his bat or his glove right now and the seasoning can only help him.  He's not the "can't miss" prospect that absolutely has to play at the big leagues as soon as possible.  He's an easy guy to like, sure, but we'll like him even better if he can become a legitimate everyday outfielder or at least a "Top 5" 4th outfielder after some AAA experience.  We'll have plenty of room for him on the roster next season after one or more of Gentry/Kim/Smith leave.

Because how you have played over the last three years correlates better to how you will play tomorrow than how you played the last three days or weeks.

Exactly.  Also, see Paredes, Jimmy in the "Overexposed" section of the library.

Are we talking about Rickard, Kim or Mancini?  Because that Jimmy Paredes scouting book might be out on all three of them.  I'm rooting for all three, but you're already seeing Mancini getting breaking balls.

What would the book on Kim look like?  This guy knows the strike zone and hits to all fields?

Would also have to include: put left-handed pitcher or knuckleballer on the mound.

Agreed. Rickard has been below replacement value in his MLB career. Why rush to put him on the 25-man?

Not in this series he hasn't.

Like the rest of the O's, who only managed 2 hits yesterday, Kim was victimized by outstanding breaking pitches and change-ups. He hit a game-changing homer the day before against Archer. And he's continued to see a lot of pitches.
