He hit in 2016, didn't hit in 2017.   We can't assume 2018 will look exactly like one or the other.

Correct he was worse in 2015 then he was this year and bounced back to have  his best season last year of his career.  I didn't expect him to be like last year but I expected more then he has given.  The most surprising part of him and Davis is neither one had that week or ten games where they caught fire and carried the team for a short period of time.  They have both been streak hitters even not in their best years but never had one his week.  All season I waited for that hot streak and I think the team management did too and it never happened.

That was who I had catching the other 12.  ;)

Seriously, Buck doesn't control the 25 man.  If Dan gives Buck two catchers and once of them is Sisco, he's going to have to play him.

You might think that heirarchy exists like that. That would be normal, but Buck hired DD. I'll safely go out on this limb... I think Buck has more control over the roster, and player development, than any other Manager in MLB.

If Castillo leaves next year, Pena will be the 2nd C on OD. Or a Pena like vet.

Can my boy Sisco at least get some PH AB's?

Actually, I think every manager has a pretty strong say on who makes the 25-man roster to start the year.

I think you'll see some of Sisco at C as soon as we are mathematically eliminated.     But that won't be until at least Sunday, and more likely, early next week.   Meanwhile, he'll pinch hit here or there.

I'm sure they have input but if Dan and Buck disagree about Sisco, Dan is going to win that argument.

Pedro .737 OPS in AAA

Sisco .736 OPS in AAA

Pedro is DH'ing tonight. He really earned those AB's over Sisco this year.

I would like to see him play but let's hold on a second. It isn't like Castillo and Caleb deserved to be benched. The fact that Sisco has been here an entire month has value to him.

The O's convinced Pedro not to opt out of his contract several months ago, and probably promised him a look in September.     It's just not that big a deal.

I'm baffled by us playing Pedro. Pedro needs us more than we need him and if he wants to leave next year, so be it. We're married to Trumbo the next two years. Plus Pedro is just the same old same old. HR or strikeouts. Pull hitter. No speed. At least Sisco is a line drive guy that hits to all fields.

Its making a boring stretch of games that much more boring. Why call up your "top prospect" just to let him ride the pine for a month?  We're worried about Trumbo and Pedro's feels. Lol. Look at Sisco, he's gotta watch Hays play everyday after only being in Bowie a couple months. Sisco won a freaking batting title in Bowie last year at 21. It's a joke.

I really believe Buck isn't as big a fan of Sisco's as everyone else is. Hasn't started at all, even to give Castillo or Joseph a break or DH role. Doesn't get as much "garbage" time as others. If this is your "catcher of next year," don't you want to get him some time with the pitching staff he would be dealing with? Also, with him being a lefty, give him shots against right handed starters and relievers. He could even DH, like Alvarez did tonight.

And I ask once again, if Dan puts Sisco on the 25 with Caleb (assuming Beef walks) how does Buck avoid playing him?

Is Joseph going to catch 150 games?

If that happens he'll hit around .200 and no RBI again. But his CS % will go up because no Jimenez. So, you know, positives.

    • ???. Cowser took more swings against LF than any other LH hitter on the team ( not named  Henderson). He was one of the guys they did not platoon.
    • I think Kevin Seiyltzer was the fall guy for a team that thought they were a championship team.  This guy has overseen more a decade of hitting in Atlanta, has been through developing and helping young batters succeed when the league adjusts.  Most importantly, he has a ring!
    • Glad one poseur AL team is out.  I hope CLE wins and knocks the other one out tomorrow.
    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
