Snider was good. Cruz was bad.

Wasn't it Opening Day when Snider danced a Trumbo-like jig near the rightfield warning track around a fly ball that dropped in front of him? Cue the video!

I don't remember Snider to have been a good defensive outfielder.

Hopefully one day, I will learn how to post video of Travis Snider being hit in the face by a pop up, but until then youtube has your back.

You may also like two outfield highlights of Travis in an Orioles uni. As graceful as Baryshnikov!

The same bat that beat the tigers to send them to the ALCS?

Cruz was a dWar of .8 while here.

Trey is a dWar of -1.2.

Delmon was a -.9 and .1 while here.

Trumbo was a -2.1 and -1.6 his two previous seasons.

dWAR-I do not think it means what you think it means.

Let’s step back for a moment. I was an early user of Sean Smith’s Wins Above Replacement framework. When Sean Forman at Baseball-Referenceacquired it for use on the site, it was like watching two of your best friends get married. Seriously, it was beautiful. I could see them having babies together. Babies like Mike Trout.

One thing Sean (Forman) has introduced since taking the reigns is the concept of oWAR (offensive WAR) and dWAR (defensive WAR). It’s not that these stats by themselves are terrible. It’s just that they’re terribly named and as a result, I have never seen them used properly.
