Seems like this might be a guy we would want to sign kinda early?  lol

Will he become our top infield prospect?   I guess Mountcastle technically still counts as a fielder.

His team might be playing until June 27th.

Slow-motion of Cadyn Greiner's swing during batting practice at the College World Series: https://twitter.com/jjcoop36/status/1007634384260878338

I'm no expert, but I've seen some say his swing is garbage and I don't see that. I think this swing that is posted is a good foundation. He's not "pushing" and gets some use of the lower half. It's a little long in the back, but stays in the zone decently. I have noticed he does get fooled and off-balance in games, but this swing is a good place to start going forward.

Here is Nick Madrigal's (4th overall) in slow motion:  https://twitter.com/jjcoop36/status/1007710229310603265

He is much quicker to the zone and stays in longer, but clearly taught similar things.

The Beavers, ranked No. 2 nationally, struggled from the start Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park, as shortstop Cadyn Grenier, a 2018 first-round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, committed a fielding error on the first pitch of the game.

The curse of the Orioles has already affected our recent draft pick.  Quite arguably the best defensive SS in college baseball makes an error on the very first pitch of the College World Series...he'll fit right in...?

Just hit a home run against North Carolina!

Plus some outstanding plays at SS. With his team up 7-6 in the top of the ninth, runner on second with no outs, Grenier, lays down a perfect sac bunt to advance the runner to 3rd. (who later scored). Also, in the 8th, he singled and later scored on a double from 1st base to tie the game at 6. The kid is definitely a ball player. I just hope he hits enough to be an every day player.

Game tying RBI, keeps OSU alive.

Grenier is a BALLER. With his team down to their last strike, Grenier lines a single to left field to drive in the tying run in the top of the 9th against one of the best closers in college BB. Earlier in the game he also laid down a perfect safety squeeze with the bases loaded for a base hit and RBI. The kid can grind!!!!

If you think being an Orioles fan is a gut punch ........ try being an Orioles AND a Razorbacks fan !!! I think I'm going to throw up.

I was in 7th grade at the time.

Everybody was talking about Oklahoma, and the possibility of them winning the national championship after they beat Arkansas in the Orange Bowl.

Roland Sales, a running back who was not even expected to play in the game, shredded the Sooners for 205 yards rushing en route to a 31-6 drubbing of Thomas Lott and company.

I was impressed I must say. That was the best bunt out of nowhere that I've seen in a while.  And the single? He slashed it.

    • But wait, there’s more. NIL is coming to high schools too. It is insane!
    • PS I think I probably was one of the ones who voted for a drop into the high 90s, but I definitely predicted, and expect a division title. I don’t care if we do it with only 90 wins. I wanna win the division.
    • I can’t tell another person what their standard should be for being disappointed.  It’s subjective.  I’ll just say I think that’s really unreasonable.  I also think your opinion that the O’s have lost a lot of games by bad bullpen management is wrong.  But go ahead, drive yourself nuts thinking the bullpen would never lose a game if only they were managed properly.
    • Yes, I am aware that this is basically just a repeat of the other days chat. it’s quite possible. This post was inspired by that chat. But the point remains valid. I can only say what I’ve already said it’s still how I feel. If the bullpen management doesn’t improve, I don’t think it will be a three game gap, but if we lose the division 108-105, I will be very disappointed. And it seems that a lot of people feel the same way.
    • Logan Webb is pretty much where my list starts and ends. 4+ wins 3 years in a row, including 5 wins last year, on pace for a career year this year, and under contract at a reasonable price for 4 more years.  That would be a near perfect comp for the Chris Sale white sox trade.   I'm only entertaining deals for a pitcher, because we still have a position player backlog, and if we end up trading all our position player depth, we can much more reliably go after someone in FA.  Soto would hit the warehouse if he signed here, and we can actually dream about that with Rubenstein as the owner.
    • This is just a repeat of the discussion the other day.  We don’t control what the Yankees do, except when we play them.  The O’s are on pace to win 106 games.  There’s no way I’d be disappointed in them if they did that, no matter what the Yankees did.  Only 6% of our posters thought the O’s would exceed 101 wins this year; 85% expected a drop to 97 wins or lower.
    • Grayson’s first 10 starts of 2023 compared to this year: 2023: 45.1 iP, 57 H, 37 ER, 21 BB, 56 K, 13 HR 2024: 57.2 IP, 54 H, 21 ER, 21 BB, 65 K, 6 HR He hasn’t been quite as dominant as he was in the second half of last year, but he’s getting it done.
