6' 1 175lbs DOB: 03/31/96

 

 

Luke's Take: Defense first SS who got drafted last year despite missing the majority of the season. Athletic guy, uses his lower half well at the plate, but doesn't have the present strength or swing plane to hit for power. If he can get a bit stronger, looks to have the glove and contact skills for a utility role.

Senior. Sounds like another great defensive SS. Had TJ surgery last year.

Noted as one of, if not the best, defensive shortstops in the Big West already ... Started off slowly with the bat, hitting just .125 after his first 13 games ... After two weeks out of the lineup in early March, really found his stroke, batting .343 between Mar. 20 and Apr. 21, raising his overall average 139 points in the process ... Laced an RBI single past the third base bag in the bottom of the 11th in a tie game against UC Irvine on May 16, giving UCSB a 3-2 win as part of a three-game sweep of the Anteaters ... Had three hits in a game twice, both coming in May ...
