With 36 games left, if the Orioles repeat their 4-32 performance to close the season, as in 2002, they would lose 121 games and be the worst team ever. Now that would be infamy.

And the good news (if that is possible), we have another team on our heels each and every day to see who is worse.  Infamous!  I love love love it!  ?

The Orioles used to be the St Louis Browns.  In 1939 the Browns were 43-111.  That was in a 154 game schedule.  In a 162 game schedule the Orioles would have to win 46 games to not be worse than that team.  So they would have to go 9-27 to not be worse team in franchise history.  A franchise that started in 1901 and only made the post-season once in their first 65 years of existence.

They did go 7-21 in 2017 in the last month and a day.

They do have a big series at the end of the month going into September. The Royals.

Only one month have the Orioles had a  winning record since April 2017.

March 1 1 5 8 .500
April 7 19 93 144 .269
May 9 19 111 145 .321
June 6 20 88 129 .231
July 9 16 113 128 .360
August 5 14 78 133 .263

That 4-32 stretch is just amazing in retrospect.

Consider that as bad as the Orioles have been this year, the WORST 36 game stretch they have had at any point is 7-29.

Orioles could go 4-32, set the all time record and still not be the team with the worst record, and end up being second worst of all time.  This season makes no sense.

Maybe the best part of that 4-32 stretch is they actually won a series in there.  They beat Boston 2 out of 3 in Boston.....a Red Sox team that won 93 games that year.

KC is worse than us.  Maybe not in the win/loss column but when you take into account they play in an inferior division and only have one more win than us, they are certainly worse.

I hate the "we play in the AL East with the Yankees and Sox, woe is us crap" but in this case it makes sense.

Our divisional foes are 250-198 against everyone other than us, for a .558 winning percentage - equivalent to 90.4 wins in a season.

KC divisional foes are 203-248 against everyone other than KC, for a .450 winning percentage - equivalent to 72.9 wins in a season.

That alone tells you just how awful the Royals are.

The Royals might be awful but I think the Orioles are worse.  Remember we don't have Machado, Gausman, Britton, Brach and Schoop anyore.

We have an upcoming series to determine who is worse.  All they have to do is get the starter out of the game and they can win as we have no bullpen.

The team doesn't seem worse for their absence.
